​Connecting Tonga's Private Sector With the Government

The Chamber represents your interests
Tonga Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a non profit, non government organization incorporated in 1996. It is Tonga’s National Private Sector Organisation (NPSO). It endeavours to represent the interest of its members, private sector businesses and to promote growth in the Kingdom of Tonga.

Boasting over 100 members from all industry sectors and represented by an active member-elected council who meet monthly, TCCI is able to provide valuable business facilitation services to all its members.

Statement Of Intent​
Advancing business by improving cost structure and enhancing competitiveness in the Kingdom of Tonga.
Objectives
  • To promote, protect, encourage, assist, and advance the trade, commerce, industry and professions throughout the Kingdom of Tonga.
  • To promote and encourage the private sector to develop a market driven economy and to solicit the necessary co-operation, assistance and incentives from Government.
  • To create a desirable commercial and industrial environment for Tongan citizens, in which freedom of enterprise can best flourish and thereby allow corporate and individual talents to contribute to the economic, social and cultural development in Tonga.

What we do

The Council is composed of business men and women from the private sector of Tonga whose interests lie in advancing the private sector. Their roles and responsibility is to act as a watch dog in bringing meaningful dialogue between relevant government ministries, other non-government organisations both regional and abroad to further the interests of the private sector. The Council provides Strategic Direction to ensure that TCCI’s work plan is relevant to TCCI’s objectives and advancing business. The Full Council prepares and approves the annual Work Plan. The Work Plan is monitored closely by the Full Council who oversees the work of TCCI with authority delegated to the Executive Committee that oversees the daily functions of the Council. The Full Council is required to meet on a quarterly basis as well as to attend the annual and half-yearly strategic review of TCCI. The Full Council may chose but not obligated to attend the variety of meetings that are requested of TCCI. Full Council members are required to select at least one sub-committee to work on according to the Work Plan. These sub-committees in turn are required to report monthly to the Executive Council.
