Green Climate Fund Forum inspires the Private Sector to start working on project ideas
The Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (TCCI) Green Climate Fund Private Sector Readiness Program held a Forum on Friday the 26th of November 29, 2021 at Liku’ Alofa. A gathering that was well attended by members of the Private Sector and government representing varying industries from tourism, agriculture, transport, energy, infrastructure, fisheries, and finance. The forum was a major step in encouraging the private sector to produce climate related investment ideas and also work collaboratively.

2nd Green Climate Fund Inception Workshop continues to lure the Private Sector towards Green Climate Financing
The Green Climate Fund Private Sector Readiness Project Management Unit (PMU) under the Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held its 2nd Inception Workshop on Friday 29th October 2021. More than 30 participants attended the workshop from across the Private sector both formal and informal, key relevant government agencies and Public Enterprises, Civil Society Forum and representatives from the GCF National Designated Authority – Climate Change Dept, MEIDECC.
Inception Workshop marks the start of Engagement for Tonga’s Private Sector with the Green Climate Fund
The Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc- TCCI as the Executing Agency to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) held an Inception Workshop on Tuesday 5th Oct at the Davina House.
This event was the formal launch for the Private Sector Readiness Program, themed “Enabling Private Sector Access to Climate Finance to Strengthen Climate Resilience Development in Tonga”.
TCCI and Ministry of Trade and Economic Development - MTED Sign a Memorandum of agreement
We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between The Tonga Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TCCI) and Ministry of Trade & Economic Development ( MTED). This took place at the Trade Week hosted by MTED that ran for 4 days from 25 August 2021. Both TCCI and MTED have similar interests to strengthen the cooperation between government and private Sector.
COVID-19 will likely create long lasting economic damage and change the way enterprises do business in Tonga
Recognizing the important role that businesses play in creating jobs, economic growth, development and prosperity, the Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) collaborated with the International Labour Organization (ILO) in conducting a needs assessment survey to identify key challenges faced by businesses in Tonga resulting from COVID-19.
